Your library becomes a timeline you can open like nested drawers: years, months, days, hours, and finally the pictures themselves.

Charts that answer questions

Stacked bars show photos in purple and videos in yellow. Tap a bar to see the numbers and jump right into that period.

A map made of hexagons

Geotagged photos cluster into honeycomb cells with counts. Adjust the cell size from 1 to 100 km and tap any cell to see its pictures.

Mark your favorites

Select the shots you love, pinch to resize the grid, and collect them into a real album in the Photos app with one tap.

Repair a stuck iCloud sync

Compare two devices over the local network, see exactly which photos and videos are missing on which one, and let iCloud carry them across.

When iCloud says "8 items still to sync"

And keeps saying it for weeks. Photo Statistic finds out exactly which photos and videos are stuck and nudges iCloud into carrying them across. Two devices, one wizard, and nothing is changed without your confirmation.

  1. Let the devices find each other Tap the antenna button above the year list on both devices, pick the other one by name, and accept on that side. On the Mac: Edit > Compare with Nearby Device.
  2. Compare, step by step Totals first, then year by year, month by month, and day by day, until it is clear which items are missing on which device.
  3. Let iCloud catch up Each device collects the items the other one is missing into the app's album. iCloud picks them up from there. Compare again later and the difference should be zero.

What it needs, and what it never does

  • Two devices on the same iCloud account and the same network, with iCloud Photos on and full photo access granted
  • Only counts and anonymous identifiers travel between them - no photo ever leaves your devices
  • Every step asks first, and the wizard can be cancelled at any time
  • Your photos and videos are never changed or deleted; the only thing written is the app's own album

Make it your own

Four actions in the Shortcuts app turn your library into a report, a spreadsheet, or a number you can build on. Everything runs without opening the app.

  1. Add the action In Shortcuts, tap the plus button, choose Add Action, and search for Photo Statistic.
  2. Pick a period Today, last month, a specific year, a date range, or any number of days back.
  3. Name it The name you give the shortcut becomes the phrase that starts it: "Hey Siri, my photo year".

Recipe: a PDF report of last year

  1. Get Photo Statistics with the period set to Last Year
  2. Make Rich Text from Markdown, using the Report property of the result
  3. Make PDF, then Quick Look or Save File
